I guess we will have to wait until early next year to learn who will televise the NHL in 2011-12. The ratings figures for the Stanley Cup Final are great news and hopefully it leads to more coverage on TV. You can see how the ratings have grown and are on par with the ESPN ratings before the lockout. The only thing that could kill this type of ratings momentum is an all Canadian final or repeat of Anaheim/Ottawa.
It would be good to see ESPN and Versus share the TV rights so every game of the playoffs would be on TV. As far as Broadcast TV, I would like to see two networks (ABC & NBC) alternate on a yearly basis covering every Game of the Finals and the Winter Classic.
I read this hockey blog all the time and he has great sources for NHL related media stories.
